Determining components of the metric tensor require measurements which are not fixed in time. However, when quantum mechanics is taken into account, we find that temporal ordering is not a well defined concept. This is not a direct consequence of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle - rather it is a dynamical effect and applies to individual measurements.
