We analyze the issues of successful inflation and entropy generation in a recently proposed scenario of pre-big-bang cosmology where pre-big-bang bubbles are generated by the collision of two gravitational and dilatonic waves. We find that enough inflation is generated provided the focal lengths of the incoming waves are exponentially large compared to the string scale. Entropy is dynamically generated during the non-adiabatic evolution preceding the dilaton-driven inflation regime and the total entropy produced inside a Hubble volume scales with the product of the focal lengths.
