The existence of large extra dimensions can be used to lower the fundamental string and Planck scale. Similarly, the GUT scale can be lowered provided that the gauge bosons propagate in extra dimensions. When the 5d spacetime geometry is nonfactorizable a nontrivial warp factor can be used to localize the graviton zero-mode on a 3-brane. This solution can be generalized to six and higher dimensions, where gravity is localized on a 3-brane with an exponential warp factor.
