Our interest is the property of the mass of a black hole in an expanding universe with the presence of a scalar field. Does the mass depend on time? This question is considered using the cell lattice universe, which is constructed by matching Friedmann universe with black holes. We find that the mass of a black hole has a time dependence within the time scale of cosmological evolution. This may suggest that the uniqueness theorem of a black hole spacetime is broken in an expanding universe with a scalar field.
