By taking into account the secular perturbations of the asteroids, by the four major planets, and part of the effect of the inner planets, an improved version of the second-order analytical proper elements was obtained. The stability of the elements with time was tested via generation of accurate solutions using numerical integration and via direct measurement of the deviations from constancy. Twenty-two asteroids were tested for a time span of 400,000 years. Substantially improved accuracy for both proper ecentricities and proper inclinations is shown.
