The paper reports experimentally derived quantitative estimates of the frequency and time dependences of the spatial coherence coefficient of the natural electromagnetic field in the 1-400 Hz frequency range at points spaced over 1000 km. In the presence of local disturbing factors or ELF emissions the experimentally derived estimates have values lower than the theoretical ones obtained on the basis of a model of global thunderstorm activity.
