I present here a short description of the Karhunen-Loève
Transform (KLT) used to detect very weak radio signals over narrow-band
and wide-band extraterrestrial telecommunications out of the cosmic
background noise. It appears that the KLT is more appropriate than the
well known Fourier Transform (FT).
