Scientific paper
The present conference on planetary magnetospheric physics encompasses magnetospheres of the outer planets, the magnetic fields of planets and other bodies of the solar system, and energy-transfer processes in planetary exospheres and extended neutral clouds. Specific areas addressed include the sources, transport, and acceleration of energetic particles, magnetic boundaries and MHD disturbances, the transport of plasma, plasma-wave and radio emission, and time variability. Also addressed are radio observations of the Jovian magnetic field, the question of a Martian planetary magnetic field, dynamo theory, energy transfer in Mars, Venus, and comets, remote sensing of solar system plasmas by means of UV and IR wavelengths, observations of Io's sodium cloud and torus, and plasma-neutral interactions in the magnetosphere of Saturn.
