Cryogenic pressure control valves were designed, developed, and qualified for the third stage of the Ariane launch vehicle. Design drivers include accurate pressure control and operation under conditions of vibration, acceleration, and +30 to -223 deg C temperatures. The methods by which the required performance was achieved are presented together with typical test data. The development and qualification programs are reviewed.
