We propose to investigate the chemistry of massive protostellar clusters to understand processes at work as massive star formation is initiated. In the first phase of this work, we will image the distribution of two key tracers of the chemical evolution, CH3CN and HNC in the source G305.21+0.21. CH3CN is presumed to trace hot molecular cores, whereas HNC is a precursor molecule. In the source there are three cores, and we aim to determine whether their different evolutionary states are evident through different emission characteristics of the two species.
