Finite-Temperature Field Theory, Quantum Field Theory In Curved Spacetime, Spontaneous And Radiative Symmetry Breaking
Scientific paper
We investigate the thermal and curvature effects to dynamical symmetry breaking in a four-fermion model. The effective potential is evaluated in the leading order of the 1/N expansion at finite temperature on positive curvature space R⊗SD-1 or on negative curvature space R⊗HD-1 with varying temperature and curvature. We argue the combined effects of the temperature and curvature to the phase structure. The broken chiral symmetry is restored for a sufficiently high temperature and/or large positive curvature. The negative curvature enhances the chiral symmetry breaking. It is found that the thermal effect restores the symmetry at high temperature even in negative curvature spacetime.
