CuO-NaOH degradation of the insoluble organic matter (IOM) from the
Murchison meteorite was conducted. A variety of carboxylic acids were
indentified. Oxalic acid was most abundant. It was estimated that
approximately ~30% of the IOM included ether groups containing
molecules.
