An optical test procedure has been designed for testing a 24 inch diameter segment of a 60 inch diameter, 10 m focal length parabolic mirror. The test was set up in a long room subjected to vibrations. A modification was made to a laser unequal path interferometer to allow the collimated reference beam to follow approximately the same path as the test beam so that the reference beam could pick up the same vibrations as the test beam. The test produced good quality fringes; the vibration effects were minimized to a point when turbulence effects became the limiting factor.
