We report on a special run of the NA49 experiment at CERN to obtain hadropro duction data specifically for improving the simulation of atmospheric interactions of cosmic rays. NA49 is a large acceptance detector based on time projection chamb er spectrometers. Data were collected using a thin carbon target with proton beams of 100 and 158 GeV.
