The frequency and angular dependences of radio pulses originated by high
energy showers in different dense media is compared. Simulations made
with two Monte Carlo packages, ZHS and GEANT4, give consistent results.
Analytical expressions are inferred to characterize the radio pulse
spectrum up to very high frequencies.
