A theoretical study is carried out of the interaction between the dust coma of Halley 1986 III type comets with the proton flux of the solar wind and with energetic hydrogen atoms genetically related to these protons. Analytical formulae are obtained for the effective radius re(pd) of the dust coma for protons of the solar wind, allowing for the power-law size and mass distributions of dust particles, which have been inferred from in situ measurements performed on board the spacecraft Vega and Giotto.
