Scientific paper

The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the effects of tropospheric turbulence on the accuracy of a very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) system. In particular, attention is given to the effects of turbulence on the accuracy of measurements of interference frequency and thus of the accuracy of associated coordinate measurements. It is shown that the tropospheric conditions limit the accuracy of individual angular measurements in a VLBI system by 0.01-0.02 arcseconds.
