Graviton creation in a Robertson-Walker universe is calculated using a
renormalized energy-momentum tensor. If the background matter has an
equation of state p=γϱ, then for γ > 1/3, graviton
energy created near the Planck time tp can alter the
expansion to a~ t1/2 in <~102tp.
