The authors present a cosmological model in the d = 11 supergravity theory, where the fermion field serving as a matter term gives rise to the energy-momentum tensor of matter, and the four-index tensor field gives rise to the energy-momentum tensor of the field as in the spontaneous compactification mechanism. A particular scenario is proposed in which the universe undergoes the "first big bang" and an "inflation phase" before the "ordinary big bang".
