The role of longitudinal resistance in the magnetospheric-ionospheric circuit is investigated in the case when the conditions in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres are different. Poles of intensified convection arise on the two sides of the field-aligned current layer under such conditions. The convection is intensified in the hemisphere with the smaller value of ionospheric conductivity; the zone width is about 50 km; the bursts of the north-south electric field reach 100 mV/m.
