The ``Missing Dark Matter" problem has precipitated a crisis in physics.
Refining the concept of space may hold the key to a possible resolution
of this crisis. In this paper, the nature of space is discussed, used to
develop an equation of state of space in a populated universe, and then
both are applied successfully to solve the missing dark matter problem.
