The thin phase screen model is used to investigate the effects of ionospheric gravity waves on ground-based observations of radio sources. Expressions for ray deviations and focusing frequency, valid up to large zenith angles, are given. The shape of spectral caustics, observed on dynamic spectra is calculated. These results provide an interpretation of already published effects of gravity waves.
