We propose to search for the occurrence of continuum radio emission in "magnetars" (already cataloged or yet to be discovered at the time of submission of this proposal), during the phase following a strong X-ray outburst (i.e. a giant or a intermediate magnetar flare). A prompt study of the continuum emission is very important for clarifying the physical mechanisms triggering the outbursts in this class of ultra high magnetic field neutron stars, as well as for unveiling the possible onset of a pulsed radio emission, to be investigated by a parallel NAPA proposal at the Parkes radio telescope.
