During the formation stages of the terrestrial planets, the Sun’s high energy emissions were about 100 times stronger than today. At that early times, the Earth also underwent a violent bombardment phase by planetesimals. We have explored different compositional scenarios to know the properties of the atmosphere in that period. We discuss the implications that these processes could have in the atmospheric evolution and ultimate appearance of life on Earth.
