The Phillips frequency-dependence rule for sporadic-E is extended to give better coincidence with observed data at lower frequencies. By making use of the concept of probability, the occurrence of Es of which only qualified values of [latin small letter f with hook]0Es, are known can be included in the calculation. The results thus obtained show that the logarithm of probability of occurrence of [latin small letter f with hook]0Es < [latin small letter f with hook] varies linearly with [latin small letter f with hook] up to a certain frequency. The seasonal variation of Es occurrence by means of 27-day running average values indicates that the phase of season differ markedly from year to year, and (M3000)F2 is found to have a similar phase relation with it. By grouping the data based on the reasoning drawn from the large phase variation, the Es occurrence at Taipei is found to be negatively correlated with sunspot number for most cases. The solar tidal effect on [latin small letter f with hook]0Es and h'Es seems to be existing as shown, and the semidiurnal lunar tidal components of both of the characteristics are calculated and compared with other stations.
