We discuss two classes of fractal cascades which may be used to model the clustering properties of the large-scale galaxy distribution. In particular, we introduce a multifractal cascade (which we call alpha-model) which provides a dynamically-motivated description of the density perturbation field Delta rho/ rho. This fractal model is rooted in the behavior of the linear density perturbations at large scales and in the process of nonlinear gravitational clustering and virialization at small scales. The mass function of collapsed objects is easily generated as well.
