The most important results of theoretical and laboratory studies about dust aggregation in protoplanetary disks in the last few years have been the realization that (i) radial drift is extremely important to be considered as a factor depleting the outer regions of the disk, and that (ii) fragmentation of dust aggregates in disks is likely to be a ubiquitous process that must be taken into account if grain growths is to be understood. The present review focuses therefore on these issues. I will restrict the discussion to new numerical models that incorporate an increasing amount of physics. In particular, I will focus on the calculations the derive the internal structure and porosity of grains in addition to the mass distribution during the calculation process. I will introduce hierarchical growth of aggregates as a new process. Finally, I will summarize the latest series of global protoplanetary disk modes that treat coagulation, fragmentation and radial transport of dust for the entire disk.
