The talk will present an overview of the Gemini Observatory Adaptive Optics systems (present and coming on-line) at both Gemini North (Altair) and Gemini South (NICI/MCAO).
Altair is an adaptive optics system capable of being used in natural guide star mode (NGS) for bright targets and in laser guide star mode (LGS) for fainter targets. NICI is a recently commissioned NGS coronographic system, which permits high-spatial resolution investigation of faint structure around bright objects, e.g. circumstellar environments. The MCAO system, currently in it's final development stage, will use an LGS constellation for diffraction-limited wide field imaging.
The capabilities of these systems will be discussed along with examples of their scientific output.
