I will review the application of adaptive optics (AO) coronagraphy to high-contrast imaging of circumstellar debris disks, which are signposts of planet-formation processes. I will discuss the scientific motivation for imaging these disks at high spatial resolution in the near IR, highlighting the power of such observations for probing the dynamical processes shaping circumstellar dust distributions. These results depend on state-of-the-art observational and data-processing techniques for enhancing sensitivity to faint circumstellar material in the face of the stellar glare. These points will be illustrated with recent examples, including the debris disk around AU Microscopii. These studies demonstrate the scientific value of applying future AO coronagraphs to the study of circumstellar debris.
