The goal of this program is to measure brown dwarf and pre-main- sequence (PMS) star masses precisely in order to provide empirical data for definitive tests of theoretical calculations of their evolution. We propose to use the NIRSPEC infrared, high-resolution spectrometer at Keck with the adaptive optics system and the laser guide star to continue our previous work by extending it to an early L-type brown dwarf binary, 2MASSW J0746425+2000321, a binary at the stellar-BD boundary, LP 349-25, and the PMS star binary NTTS 045251+3016. We also propose to obtain first epoch velocity measurements for the classical T Tauri binaries DF Tau, ZZ Tau, and Elias 12N, for which we already have about 10 years of astrometry of their orbital motion.
