We propose deep, high resolution 2-D spectra of the central region of the Seyfert galaxy Mrk 6, with GMOS IFU in the emission lines Hbeta, [OIII]5007 and Halpha. These will determine the kinematics of the line-emitting gas in the central regions of Mrk 6 where the spectacular radio structure originates. The kinematics would prove instrumental in determining if the orthoganlly-placed bubble-like radio structures in Mrk 6 are indeed bubbles or the projection of an episodically-powered radio jet that shock-ionizes the gas along its trajectory. These two models have far-reaching implications for the lifecycles of Seyfert galaxies. A stochastically powered precessing jet model would imply that radio activity is a short-lived phenomenon in the lifetime of a Seyfert galaxy. Mrk 6 may therefore be a typical Seyfert galaxy where high sensitivity radio observations have caught it in its short-lived phase of episodic activity.
