The now operational UKIRT Deep Infrared Sky Survey (UKDISS) has opened a new window of possibility for the discovery and characterization of extremely red objects such as quasars beyond z~6.4 and the extreme class of ``Y'' brown dwarfs. Surveying significant areas approximately four magnitudes deeper than 2MASS, and employing the novel Y filter, UKIDSS probes a new parameter space and presents several observing opportunities that we propose to combine into a single efficient followup search. Drawing on our past success in finding L and T dwarfs, as well as high-redshift quasars, we have created new selection techniques, and will carry out a coordinated imaging and spectroscopic campaign to identify such interesting objects in merged SDSS-UKIDSS data. We present selection techniques and sample candidates/sky densities/magnitudes based on the UKIDSS early data, which will then be applied to the next large data release, scheduled to occur in July 2006 and covering the range RA=23-4 hours with ~150 square degrees.
