The electron density and temperature profiles along the tail axis of comet Giacobini-Zinner are calculated, using a multifluid model of an H2O-dominated atmosphere. The results obtained using this model, which was developed prior to ICE, are compared to the data from the mission and are found to be in satisfactory agreement with the ICE observations.
