AO-index data for 1979 are used for a statistical analysis of conditions in the interplanetary magnetic field under which the intensity of the eastern electrojet (EE) is greater than that of the western electrojet (WE). It is shown that, in the first half of the year (e.g., March-April), the EE is intensified (or the WE loses intensity) in the case of a negative sector structure; the opposite tendency is observed in the second half of the year (e.g., September-October).
