Numerical calculations have been made for the general relativisticcollapse of non-rotating, axisymmetric stars of 10M&sun;. Theinitial density of a star is about 3×1013g/cm^3. As anequation of state, we use γ (adiabatic index)=4/3 for ρ ≤ 3×1014g/cm^3 and γ → 2 for ρ → ∞. Both prolate and oblate collapse arecalculated. It is suggested that Schwarzschild back holes may beformed if U (the ratio of the initial internal energy to the initialgravitational energy) ≳ 2/3. If U ≲ 2/3, it is suggested that naked singularities may be formed for large initial deformation of stars.
