Two independent tests based solely on the metric and photometric parameters of the Galaxy are presented which confirm the short values of the extragalactic distance scale and the corresponding Hubble constant. The tests involve the verification of the zero point of the luminosity scale index by comparison of the luminosity index of the Galaxy with the relation derived for 16 standard galaxies, and the comparison of the absolute magnitudes and linear diameters of the Galaxy with those derived for the Galactic double represented by the mean of the properties of NGC 1073, 4303, 5921 and 6744. Results confirm the short distance scale corresponding to a Hubble constant of 95 km/sec per Mpc and reject the long scale corresponding to a Hubble constant of 50 km/sec per Mpc at a high level of significance.
