The model of origin of solar differential rotation based on the interaction of convective eddies with global rotation, originally proposed by Drobyshevskii (1977), is considered. It is noted that Drobyshevskii's formula for angular velocity distribution in a rotating turbulent cylinder contains some shortcomings, and a more correct derivation of this formula for a rotating star with a convective unstable envelope is proposed. A laboratory experiment measuring the distribution of rotational velocity in a rotating convectively unstable fluid is suggested.
