The present self-consistent reductive perturbation treatment of parallel MHD wave propagation in cold plasmas addresses cometary plasmas, and gives attention to a multispecies characterization of these propagation phenomena in which different plasma constituents have differing equilibrium drifts. The wave magnetic field obeys a derivative nonlinear Schroedinger equation, whose soliton solutions encompass those cometary plasma applications in which slow cometary ions are picked up by the fast-flowing solar wind; such solitons are wider than those in the nonstreaming case, for a given maximum amplitude.
