Neutrino Mass And Mixing

Scientific paper

Super-Kamiokande recently provided new results on atmospheric neutrinos which clearly indicate that the observed ratio of muons to electrons is significantly smaller than what is expected. Moreover the zenith-angle distribution of atmospheric muon neutrinos shows a strong up-down asymmetry. These results are not consistent with standard calculations of atmospheric neutrinos, while the hypothesis of neutrino oscillations quantitatively reproduces all the observed results.
