The physical parameters of flare plasma, obtained by solar soft-X-ray photometers aboard the GOES 6 and Prognoz 9 satellites are compared for the same solar events, using a specially developed method which makes possible the comparison between the two instruments. An analysis is also carried out of changes in the flare plasma characteristics during the rise and decay phases of the solar events, using the dissimilar response characteristics of the X-ray sensors to discriminate the nonisothermal from isothermal epochs and to identify some of the properties of these epochs. Results of the analysis indicate that, at the initial stage, the plasma is strongly nonisothermal. It thermalizes gradually, becoming mainly isothermal during the decay phase.
