Cryogenic calcite was produced to mimic aufeis and used as a Martian
analog. Presumably, aufeis could occur in V-shaped valleys on Mars,
provided enough bicarbonate-rich liquid water exists or has existed in
the past, most likely as frozen discharging groundwater springs.
