We report on observations of very high energy gamma-rays from Markarian 501 taken using the Whipple 10m imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope between March and July of 1997. The data correspond to a period of bright flaring of the source when quasi-periodic signals are claimed to have been detected by the Telescope Array Project and HEGRA telescope array. If these results are confirmed they may significantly impact our understanding of AGN physics. The analysis is complicated because the found period ( ~25 days) is very close to the sampling period. We use a varient of the Lomb method to extract spectral information from the unevenly sampled data.
