The current status of our knowledge of magnetic fields in A-type stars
is reviewed with special emphasis on the progress achieved for
"classical" Ap stars over the last four years. For those stars, the
distribution of the strength of the field, its three-dimensional
structure, and its relation with rotation and evolution are discussed.
