Black Holes from Stars to Galaxies -- Across the Range of Masses. Edited by V. Karas and G. Matt. Proceedings of IAU Symposium #
Physics
Scientific paper
Many systems are known to accrete at rates near or above the Eddington
limit, in both stellar-mass and supermassive cases. I discuss how such
systems may appear in practice, the efficiency of the accretion process,
and how such holes grow over time.
