We propose to observe a number of UCHII regions which show strong CH3CN (methyl cyanide) emission. Strong CH3CN emission was previously shown by Purcell et al (2006) to be consistently associated with UCHII regions, and only occasionally associated with hot cores. Since CH3CN is traditionally thought of as a hot core tracer, this is an unexpected result. We wish to see exactly where this molecule comes from, in relation to the UCHII region, since it is unlikely to come from inside. Is it surrounding the UCHII region, or is it offset from the UCHII region? Only high resolution observations with the ATCA will be able to tell.
