Almost all studies of short-period RR Lyrae stars have mentioned the possibility of small-scale fluctuations in light curves or short time-scale changes in absorption line strengths. While careful examination of high signal-to-noise ratio visible light curves has failed to confirm such behavior, fluctuations may still be detectable in the ultraviolet region. These would reflect such phenomena as shock waves generated by the pulsation in the outer stellar envelope. We propose high time resolution, high signal-to noise ratio observations of a sample of such stars to characterize the ultraviolet pulsation and investigate the pulsation effects in the upper atmosphere.
