Extinction-to-backscatter ratio and a complex refractive index of aerosols is derived with data from three measurements. Optical thickness variations before and after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption for tropospheric and stratospheric aerosols are also reported. A lidar, a sun photometer, and an optical particle counter were used to observe tropospheric aerosols from November 1990 to April 1992.
