Currently one of the most active areas in astroparticle physics, very high energy astronomy is proving itself to be an effective probe of ultra-relativistic particles in our galaxy and beyond. The High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) is currently the most sensitive instrument for TeV γ-ray studies. I will present recent results from H.E.S.S., and discuss the implications of these results for both astrophysics and particle physics.
