We investigate the processes to form large molecular clouds from small diffuse clouds. In a two-phase medium where clumpy cold neutral medium (CNM) is embedded in warm neutral medium (WNM), CNM grows in mass by cooling the interface of the two media via thermal conduction. This growth of CNM decreases the total volume of the two-phase medium, and hence, overall medium gradually shrinks and the average column density of the two-phase medium increases. We show there is a critical column density at which the medium loses its warm phase and starts to coagulate rapidly. This sequence of processes may provide one way to produce totally molecular clouds from mostly atomic diffuse clouds.
