The previous papers of this series have been concerned with the process of reflection of electromagnetic waves of long wavelength from a horizontally stratified ionosphere. In these papers the formulae describing the process of reflection were developed under simplifying assumptions. In the present paper the formulae are extended to their fullest generality and may be applied to obliquely incident waves in general anisotropic ionospheres. The formulae are used to extend to oblique incidence the results obtained with the anisotropic exponential ionosphere in Paper IV.
